「Jay Park on his Jaywalkers: “They always have my back”」

What do you love most about your fans? And what song would best describe your Jaywalkers?
Jay Park: They support me, they support my music. They support everything I like, too. They support my crew, my family. They try to find out what I like and they try to like the same thing. If I like Usher, they listen to all of Usher’s songs and they try to like Usher. They’re very caring. What song to describe them? Maybe ‘I Got Your Back’ because they always have my back.

How do you feel about the fan response in Malaysia?
Jay Park: I feel so great. Even though I’m tired and I’m sick, I feel so good. Ever since I’ve been on this Asian tour, even my Twitter followers have been going up a thousand a day. The response has been crazy. Little kids have bought my album; I didn’t even know little kids in Malaysia knew me, it’s weird.

Any plans for a full concert in Malaysia?
Jay Park: Yeah, I just did this showcase here. My album just came out. We’ll see how the response is, and if I can do a full-length concert here, I would. I like performing so I’d love to do a concert here.

Recently your fans from Jaypark.net adopted a koala bear in Australia on behalf of your name. What are your thoughts on your fans doing charity work and community projects under your name?
Jay Park: I think that’s great and wonderful, but I wish it was with the right intentions. I don’t want them to help charities just to make me look good. They should want to do it themselves, you know.

「Facts you may not know about Jay Park」

Over the weekend, Korean singer Jay Park was in the Philippines to promote his first full-length album titled “New Breed.”

Every Jay Park fan, officially called The Jaywalkers, know that the popular singer has visited the country twice before and in this visit, Jay Park continues his love affair with the country through a series of intimate fan gatherings and performances.

To make this Yahoo! Philippines OMG! ok Pop interview more interesting, I asked fans to send in their questions for the singer through my official Twitter and Facebook accounts. Indeed, the questions proved to be most interesting and creative!

Jay Park, who turned out to be a pleasure to interview, answered the questions on Saturday, May 5. He was open, laid-back and even offered us some pizza!

Belated happy birthday! Your birthday was last April 25; how did you spend it? (Question from @86123005)

I recorded some songs and I had dinner with my family. We had sushi and then I watched “The Avengers.” “The Avengers” was a great movie. I love that movie…

「Jay Park talks about his new album in recent interview」

Singer Jay Park who has made a successful comeback as a solo artist has returned to the K-pop scene as a ‘musician’. The singer who returned with his first full-length album after a year-long hiatus has produced all but two songs on his new record. He is a musician who definitely dances to the beat of his own drum, and knows what works for him.

His new album NEW BREED dropped on February 7th, and it is full of R&B and Pop, two genres of music that resonates with him, but is more unfamiliar to his fans.

I think that eventually, I will be able to properly convey the kind of music that I enjoy with my fans,” he said.

Instead of following the current trends, Jay Park is stubborn about releasing music that he enjoys and is passionate about, and therefore he is able to work with more joy and freedom. It seems to be his secret to remaining at the top of the game, when trends tend to change so quickly in this industry.

Singer Jay Park (25) has returned. Jay Park, who had received fancy spotlights as a group leader, came back as a solo (artist) with his first full album, New Breed, comprised with Jay Park’s music only. This album shows how much of a music-loving celebrity, no, an artist Jay Park is.

“I made this album by bundling together songs I have released prior with new ones. There is no special meaning added or left out because its a full-length album. All albums are important. I just like the fact that I can play my music to other people. I really like that I make as much music I like without regret.”

「Jay Park "Expensive cars, nice house, brand-name bags… what's the point?"」

jaymail:

I translated a short excerpt from this article because it shows Jay Park’s mindset. It’s different to alot of other idol singers who become obsessed with money and brand names. I’ve heard of idols who sift through gifts that fans give them and only keep the brand names, throwing out everything…

「Jay Park, “First Full Length Album, Put Everything On The Line” 」

Singer Jay Park has released his first full length album “New Breed”, returning to his fans.

We met up with Jay Park in Seoul on the afternoon of February 8th, despite the cold weather, he accepted and laughed wholeheartedly during the interview, showing his excitement for the upcoming events.

“New Breed” is a collection of electro music, hip hop, R&B and a variety of other music genres. The album features Rob Knox (domestic & international famous producer for big-name stars like Justin Timberlake), who’ve helped to enhance the album.

“First Full Length Album, Gave It My All”

Jay Park started his solo activities almost 3 years ago, as a singer he has the “tough guy” image. Because of his determination of perfecting his skills during the lengthy prep time, it allowed him to become more mature (as an artiste).

“During this period, I’ve been releasing singles continuously. It’d already been almost a year since I did promotional activities, given that my mini-album “Take A Deeper Look” was released last April.”

The significance of the first solo album? It would not be an exaggeration to say that Jay Park has devoted his all into the album.

“Because this is my first solo album, I’ve poured my heart and soul into the production of this album. In the one year worth of prep time, we’ve composed more than 30 songs and recorded 20 songs. What’s special is I’m the lyricist and composer of most songs (except for 2), the feelings (you get from this achievement) is extraordinary. Aside from my personal ambition, I put a lot of effort in order to enhance the quality and completeness of the overall album.”

「Jay Park says he’s proud of Girls’ Generation」

Singer Jay Park has expressed that he felt proud of Girls’ Generation and their U.S. debut. He’s also revealed that he was impressed by how they landed a spot on CBS‘s ‘The Late Show with David Letterman‘, an extremely popular American program.

During a recent interview with Star News, Jay Park stated, “A dream that I’ve had since I was a kid was to be on David Letterman’s show. It’s an extremely popular program that American singers want to perform on. Being on the ‘Letterman Show’ in the U.S. is a promotional stop that a lot of singers make. Although it’s not a fancy stage, it has an interesting atmosphere.”

He continued, “As I was watching Girls’ Generation, I felt very proud.

And what about Jay Park’s possible U.S. debut? “I definitely do want to debut in the United States,” he said. “If I have free time, I would like to work on English songs. Although I have some future work set with American musicians, I am going to focus on my Korean activities for now.

In related news, Jay Park’s latest album, ‘New Breed‘, has grabbed number one on the iTune’s ‘R&B/Soul Album Charts’.

「Arena Homme Interview, Feb 2012」

Q: Are you okay with sexy concepts that expose your upper body?
Jay: If you tell me beforehand, then I don't feel pressure. But if, like today, I don't know about it, it's not that great.
Q: Why didn't you know (about today)? They sent the plans.
Jay: But I didn't know. I didn't prepare. I regret eating pizza last night.
